September 14th, 2009

Today is all about new arrivals. Not only did the fish show up today after some what of a slow weekend, but one of our top guides Craig Mumby is back on our 27 foot Grady the “Salty Dawg” as well. Craig guides at Langara in the summer and guides for Pacific Angler Charters all Fall, Winter, and Spring before he heads back up to Langara Island Lodge. I thought I loved fishing but Craig truly amazes me. He just spent a full season up in the Charlottes, has been home for only a few days, and is already back on the local waters everyday! Yesterday Craig was down working on the boat and got the call on the radio from Jason Assonitis that some fish were showing up on the flood tide. Craig zipped out to the Cap for a quick fish and hit a tyee off the mouth of the Capilano. Jason Assonitis was also into several nice springs. The action was pretty steady, much better than the weeekend so clearly some fish showed up today on the flood tide.

The best bite has been on the flood tide with a flasher and a 6 foot leader with an anchovy. Herring also start to produce well this time of year and we have some prime anchovy and herring in stock at Pacific Angler.

It looks like the big Cap springs are starting to show so if you are in town visiting or live in town, now is a great time to book a trip. We are booked Wed but have some openings later this week.
