Vancouver Winter Chinook Salmon Fishing Report
Well, so far so good when it comes to winter chinook fishing in December here in Vancouver. We had some great trips this past week and found fish as close as a few minutes from the dock in Vancouver Harbour and all throughout the usual Howe Sound spots as. In short, the fish are around!
As I mentioned in my past report, the fishing in December has been excellent these past few years and this year looks to be continuing that trend. If your boat is in the water, it’s time to get out there and if you want to book a trip, know would be a great time.
If you haven’t fished for winter chinook before, or if you have but are looking for a few tips, I am doing another round of my Winter Chinook Course this year.
The first date announced for January sold out, so we will be adding a second, yet to be determined date. This course will get you dialed in how to setup your rods, reels, riggers and boat for winter chinook, all the top setups for different water conditions and depths, and of course the most productive spots and how to fish them effectively.
To get on the wait list for the next date that will be announced soon, call the shop at 604-872-2204 to make sure you get priority access. The course is 3 hours, from 6:30 to 9:30 and is held at Pacific Angler and costs $100+GST.
In the meantime, have a great December and I will see you in the shop, on the water, or maybe at the Winter Chinook Course.
