Vancouver Salmon Fishing Update, Monday July 16

Pacific Angler Fishing Charters had another busy weekend in the salt chuck.  It was an interesting weekend as well, with a nice hot and sunny day on Saturday and then a major rain/thunderstorm on Sunday.

Eddie was once again doing his thing and targeting the coho salmon off the shoreline of West Vancouver.  He really has a lot of confidence in this fishery and knows how to find them.  Overall, the fishing was a bit better on Saturday in comparison to Sunday.  That might have been due to the rain which increased the level of the Capilano River.  This generally causes the coho from the ocean to enter the river.

Jason Tonelli was also out this weekend doing the famous “Mastering the local Saltwater Salmon” course for Pacific Angler.  This is an amazing course for the person looking to get into saltwater salmon fishing or perhaps the angler looking to get the edge on his fellow angler.

The Vancouver weather for this week will be starting off with a bit more rain but then sunny days for the weekend.  You can expect lots of sun on Tuesday with a high of 24 degrees Celsius.  On Wednesday and Thursday the forecast is for clouds with a 40% chance of showers and high of 21 degrees Celsius.  The sun will start appearing on Friday with a mixture of sun and clouds with a chance of some showers and a high of 21 degrees Celsius.  And right on que the sun will be back in action for the weekend.  You can expect mainly sunny conditions with a few clouds on Saturday and then a Sunny day on Sunday.  The daily high will range 22 to 24 degrees Celsius.

It appears as though the marine forecast for the Georgia Straight has improved once again for this week which is great news.  It was looking pretty bleak a little while ago with some very strong predicted winds.  However, they have backed off significantly and we expect smooth sailing all the way to the weekend.

“Tonight and Tuesday – Wind variable 5 to 15 knots becoming light late Tuesday morning then becoming southeasterly 10 to 15 Tuesday evening.”

Pacific Angler Salmon Charters, Vancouver salmon fishing, will be targeting coho off the shoreline of West Vancouver as well as the chinook salmon near the “Bell Buoy”.  On our longer 8 hr trips we will start venturing out to the mouth of the Fraser River.  We will be targeting the chinook salmon migrating to the Fraser River.  This can be an amazing fishery and a great time.
